On the 13th of April 2026,the Ghana Football Association officially announced the appointment of a new head coach of the Black Stars named Carlos Queiroz. With the 2026 World Cup fast approaching, it is now down to Carlos Queiroz to come up with the best possible plan to help lead the Black Stars into the World Cup Tournament.
A lot of restructuring with regards to his internal team has taken place since his appointment. What has left some Ghanaian fans in suspense is the recent announcement of the 23 man squad call up for the friendly match against Mexico . On 6th May 2026,the names of the players called up for the friendly match with Mexico was published by the Ghana Football Association. Below is a list of the players that were called up.

Goalkeepers
Solomon Agbasi,Paul Reverson and Gidios Aseako

Defenders
Oscar Oppong, Ebenezer Adade, Ebenezer Annan, Manu Duah, Nathaniel Adjei, Razak Simpson, Dacosta Antwi and Ebenezer Abban

Midfielders
Emmanuel Edjei,Abdul Aziz Issah,Augustine Boakye,Majeed Ashimeru,Rak-Sakyi Jesurun and Salim Adams

Forwards
Daniel Agyei,Felix Afena-Gyan,Ibrahim Osman,Prince Amoako,Francis Amuzu and Joseph Opoku

The list has raised mixed reactions especially from Ghanaian fans. Whilst some fans believe the list is just to identify new talents in addition to the regular team, others believe it is a complete restructure of the team. Amongst the new players to be called up is Francis Amuzu. He plays for a football club called Gremio and recently scored a goal for his team in their 3 goal win against Deportivo Riestra.
